Chinook Language
Chinook is a language group spoken by the North American Chinook Indians.
The Chinook were renowned as traders. “Chinook Jargon,” the trade language of the Northwest Coast, combined Chinook languages with the Nuu-chah-nulth language, and other English, French, and Native American words. Some believe that Chinook Jargon existed before European contact.
Currently, there are more than 1,500 Chinook descendants.
