Polish Language

Polish is the official language of Poland. It belongs to the West Slavic branch of the Slavic language family (see articles on Russian, Ukrainian and Czech languages).

Polish has several dialects reflecting old tribal divisions, principally Great Polish (northwest Poland), Little Polish (southeast Poland), Mazovian (central Poland) and Silesian (southwest Poland). Literary Polish developed from the medieval period, based on the dialects of Great Poland and Little Poland.

Approximately 50 million people worldwide speak polish.
