Moldovan Language

Moldovan (formerly: Moldavian) is the official language of the Republic of Moldova. Moldovan is also spoken in the Republic’s breakaway terrority, Transnistria.

Throughout the years, there has been much controversy whether Moldovan is the same as Romanian. Mosts linguists believe Moldovan is virtually identical to the standard form of Romanian, with minor differences in phonetics and vocabulary.

In 1989, Moldovan’s script was changed from Cyrillic to Roman.
