It is spoken in a small area in northeast Portugual, located in the Miranda do Douro municipality. It is recognized as the co-official language of the region, along with Portuguese. Currently, Mirandese has up to 15,000 speakers, however, less than 5,000 are native speakers. In the 19th century, ethnographer Jose Leite de Vasconcelos described Mirandese as “the language of the farms, of work, home, and love between the Mirandese.” Mirandese Translation and InterpretingALS provides services in Mirandese translation and interpretation in all media.
