Malayalam Language

Malayalam is a Dravidian language. It is spoken primarily in the southern Indian state of Kerala, where it is the official language. There are approximately 35 million Malayalam speakers in India.

There are several dialects of Malayalam. Among these dialects, there is a more formal, literary type, and an informal, colloquial type. Both the literary and colloquial versions contain borrowed words from Sanskrit.
