Frisian

Our professional linguists include native Frisian speakers who are experienced in the nuances of the language and the requirements of effective translation and interpreting.

Frisian Language

Frisian (Frysk) is a West Germanic language that is closely related to English.

Although Frisian was once spoken in what is now the Noord-Holland (North Holland) province. It is now spoken in three small areas, each one having a different dialect.  The three dialects are West Frisian, spoken in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands; East Frisian, spoken west of Oldenburg, Germany; and North Frisian, which is spoken on the west coast of Schleswig in Germany and on the islands of Amrum, Föhr, the Halligen Islands, Helgoland, and Sylt.

The East and North Frisian dialects are gradually being replaced by German.
