Cebuano Language

Cebuano (also spelled Sebuano, also called Sugbuhanon) belongs to the Western, or Indonesian, group of the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) languages. Cebuano is sometimes classified, along with Hiligaynon (Ilongo) and Waray, as a dialect of a Visayan (Bisayan) language.

Cebuano is not typically used as a literary language; however, it is used by both TV and newspaper outlets.

There are approximately 15 million Cebuano speakers in the Philippines.
