Medical translations, by their very nature, require accuracy. Whether we are translating a label for a pharmaceutical product, instructions for the installation and use of a medical device, or a marketing brochure to launch a new drug, ALS is sensitive to the need to be precise.
Therefore, medical translations are approached by a team of specialists that include, among others: a translator, who is a native speaker of the target language; a technical editor, familiar with pharmaceutical and/or biochemical terminology; a copy editor who ensures grammatical correctness; and a proofreader. Moreover, when possible, ALS takes advantage of heuristic tools to ensure consistency of vocabulary and word choice, as well as to assist in the quality assurance process.
Among the clients of ALS International are major hospital and research facilities such as Memorial Sloan Kettering and St. Jude Children's Research hospital; government regulatory agencies, including the FDA; and major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Merck, Hoechst Marion Roussel and Forrest Laboratories. ALS also works with insurance companies, hospices and rehabilitation facilities throughout North America.
